FOR YOUR OIL TANK

Have you checked your oil tank recently to make sure it is in the proper condition? Many people assume everything is fine until something goes wrong.

It's a good idea in the fall to perform a quick check on your tank.

The items on this checklist can easily be observed, but remember: look, don't touch. It's best to call your fuel oil company and let a professional take care of it.

  • Are the tank legs unstable or on an uneven foundation?
  • Do you see rust or excessive dents on the tank's surface?
  • Are there drips or signs of leakage around the oil filter or valves?
  • Are there threats of snow or ice falling on the oil tank or filter?
  • Are there signs of the tanks vent being clogged or blocked by ice or snow?
