Citizen Group Calls on Sweeney to Return Questionable Contributions
(CANY 7-18-06) Citizen Action of New York asked Congressman John Sweeney to return $31,100 of campaign contributions from lobbyists and other donors who attended an event under investigation by a State Assembly Committee. The Albany Times Union reported today that Sweeney had received $31,100 from guests at a winter weekend getaway at Lake Placid that is under investigation. The President of the state Olympic Regional Development Authority, which sponsored the winter event, testified that Sweeney’s office supplied part of the guest list, a violation of House ethics standards.
Suozzi’s Pay to Play
(CANY – 6-21-06) Political contributors to Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi received more than $100 million of taxpayer money in Nassau County contracts, according to a report released today by Citizen Action of New York. The report identified 55 businesses that received Nassau County contracts, many within a short time of making a campaign contribution to Suozzi. Suozzi is a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor of New York.

(CANY – 5-30-06) With Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi planning to follow Attorney General Eliot Spitzer around New York, a government watchdog group called on Suozzi to follow Spitzer’s example in cleaning up Albany.
Suozzi Langone Campaign Cash Release
(CANY 1-19-06) An initial look at the first campaign filing of Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi in the race for Governor reveals Suozzi took more than $500,000 from contributors linked to the Wall Street investor who vowed to wage a “holy war” on Attorney General Eliot Spitzer.
First American Release
(CANY Release 3-06) Citizen Action of New York called on Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi to return $145,000 in contributions from individuals tied to First American Title Insurance. On March 2, The Wall Street Journal broke the story of an ongoing investigation into First American Title by the New York State Attorney General. Yesterday the Gannett News Service reported that First American Title Executives have given $100,000 dollars to Suozzi’s campaign for Governor.
