Coalition for After-School
Funding
Join The Fight For A Quality After-School Program For
Every Child!
Citizen Action of New York has created the Coalition for After-School
Funding (CASF), a coalition of after-school supporters. CASF is an organization
made up of parents, kids, law enforcement officials, educators, after-school
providers and others from across New York State focused on building support
for universal access to after-school programs in New York State.
CASF is seeking an intern to do community organizing for a statewide campaign
to ensure that every child has access to an after-school program. This
campaign is mobilizing parents, educators, providers, community leaders,
faith-based groups, and advocates in a campaign for more state, local
and federal funding for after-school programs. If you like working with
a diverse group of people and are committed to social change, come join
our growing coalition!
The Intern will be assist the local organizer with:

Organizing actions,
mobilizations, media coverage and other activities as part of the after-school
campaign

Researching after-school
program statistics
-
Recruiting members
and building a volunteer base for the campaign

Training local
members and leaders, and working with leadership committees
-
Building and staffing
the local coalition
Skills:
-
Excellent verbal
and written communication skills
-
A creative approach
to problem-solving, including strong analytic, strategic and planning
skills
-
Ability to work
independently and as a team
Additional factors:
Community organizing, issue organizing or electoral organizing experience
preferred. Knowledge of local and/or New York State politics helpful.
